A five-week personal development group for gay/bisexual men seeking authentic connection with their community.
In this age of online interactions, many experience a lack of authentic connection. This group offers not only a space to explore different issues affecting gay/bisexual men, but also a social space to connect with your community. Whether you wish to discuss isolation, dating, not knowing where you fit in, other mental health and life challenges in the LGBTQ+ community, or if you just want to meet others from your community, this group is the space for you.
Fee: €150 for registration for the five weeks
Dates: Saturdays – 31st of January, 7th, 14th, and 28th of February, and 7th of March 2026
Time: 4pm-6pm each week.
Participants: 10 participants maximum. All participants must be over the age of 18 and identify as gay or bisexual men (more groups may be scheduled at later dates for other cohorts).
Location: Outhouse, 105 Capel Street, Dublin 1. [See Location]
What to expect: Over the two hours for each group, there will be opportunities to socialise and discuss various issues that affect gay and bisexual men, particularly in the context of fostering authentic connection in the community.
Time will be provided at the beginning and end of each group to allow the participants to get to know each other, with assistance from the facilitator where appropriate. There will also be some ice-breaker activities to help overcome the initial apprehension of meeting a group of strangers. If you have any concerns or apprehensions, please feel free to reach out and the facilitator will aim to provide additional support. Know that I appreciate how difficult or overwhelming joining a group like this can be.The groups are kept relatively small for the purpose of creating a space where people feel more comfortable to share and engage. However, engagement isn’t immediately essential and participants are free to observe the group/take a break if they don’t feel comfortable discussing any particular topics/engaging in any activity. As a therapist, I am acutely aware of the importance of creating a safe, non-judgemental space, and group agreements will be specified at the beginning of each group to ensure that this safety is maintained.
The discussion topics will primarily be led by the group with some structure and activities provided by the facilitator. Some suggested topics for these groups may be challenges with dating as a gay/bisexual man, limitations of online interactions, challenges with the clubbing scene and its limitations, the pressure to adhere to specific moulds of how gay/bisexual men interact and form connections, and the difficulty experiencing stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination, exclusion, and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in modern society.
Once you register, the facilitator will be in touch. Prior to the commencement of the groups, he will discuss any potential apprehensions you may have and give you the opportunity to express any personal concerns.
More Information
More information will be provided in the days leading up to the first group once you have registered and have been offered a place. For any specific concerns/questions, please feel free to leave an enquiry.
